Day 1-3 Surrounded by abundant wildlife at Laikipia Wilderness Camp
Surrounded by miles of open wilderness, Laikipia can be found in the vast remoteness of the Laikipia region. With a rich diversity of wildlife undisturbed by masses of tourists, and a simple camp pitched perfectly to make use of the wonderful views; Laikipia is a bush enthusiast's delight. Relax back and experience the real and the unfiltered Kenyan bush in the care of the hospitable and experienced Carey family - a very remarkable and subtle camp that might end up being your favourite of any safari trip. The real gem in Laikipia is the ability to tailor your activities to what interest you. Here your game viewing is conducted with the rhythm of the wildlife around you and adjusted according to what would suite your ideal safari experience. Walking, photographing, wildlife courses, day and night driving, fly camping, village visits or learning to track wild dogs (some of the biggest populations in the area reside here) are just some of your many options.

Day 4-5 Truly authentic walking Safaris in the Masai Mara
There’s no tearing through the bush, ticking off animals from a vehicle at Alex Walker’s Serian; this is a safari that’s about listening, watching and feeling the very heart of the bush and engaging with all its inhabitants (four-legged and other). Back at base, the camp is a haven of tranquillity, tucked away in the wonderful Mara North Conservancy under a sleepy grove of olive trees. And funnily enough, the local Maasai translation of ‘serian’ is ‘calm’ or ‘serene’ – which is exactly how you’ll feel after a few days here. As for activities: game drive to your heart’s content with your private guide; practise your archery skills with the local Maasai; breakfast on the banks of the Mara River; head out on a walking adventure through the magical terrain and soar through the air on a balloon safari. So what doesn’t Serian have? Lots of people and lots of cars – you’re pretty much on your own up here and it’s heaven.

Day 6-9 Embrace the silence while glamping at Leleshwa Safari Camp
Leleshwa Safari Camp is an intimate tented safari base located in the Siana Conservancy, a private wildlife sanctuary on the edge of the Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve. Here, in a region known throughout the world for its wondrous collection of wildlife (Siana itself has three resident prides of lion) and that popular event, the annual migration, the camp lies in a valley overlooking the green Loita Hills and rolling plains. The atmosphere is unpretentiously glamorous, the site is blessedly far off the beaten track, the food is very good and the Masai staff are friendly and accommodating. Take a game drive, see the nocturnal wildlife or go on a foot safari. Fancy exploring the Loita Hills? Take a multi-day hike with a local Maasai guide. Visit a local village, learn skills like wildlife tracking or spear-throwing. The conservancy secures the area around the camp for future generations of Masai people, and a contribution to the conservancy is made on behalf of each guest.
